Free as a Bird

Lina Maslo is an author and illustrator with a Degree in Art from New College of Florida. Though she spent most of her childhood in Florida, she was born in Ukraine and came to the United States at the age of five. Lina is inspired by her experience as well as the experiences and lives of people from other cultures. The patterns, white space, and colors of traditional Ukrainian art influences her work at times. 


Lina’s debut book, FREE AS A BIRD: THE STORY OF MALALA, is being published by Balzer+Bray of HarperCollins. A second book, a picture book biography of C.S. Lewis called THE DOOR TO NARNIA, will be published in 2019!
